Welcome to Canary songs

Canary Songs began in 2011 as a way for LaDena Laine to share her talent for writing children's songs and puppet shows with daycare, preschool and elementary school children. The decision to call the company Canary Songs was simple. LaDena loves to sing and has been doing so for as long as she can remember. Canaries are yellow songbirds, so it seemed appropriate that with a crown of blond locks, a nice singing voice and the ability to write songs that people loved to sing along with, that Canary Songs was the perfect name for her company. Today LaDena uses the company to publish books, songs, and produce. Her husband joined the company as a translator from English to Swedish for international films and series for streaming services.

Books and literature

Children's books

During the covid lockdowns LaDena found herself restless, so she looked at her songs, took out her art tablet, and started writing books for kids. Out of her isolation came, “Karl J. Karlson Loves to Travel”, ”Simon Finds Himself in the Circus”, “Billy’s Birthday Surprise”, and “Simon and the Easter Bunny”. Every book teaches a valuable lesson, may it be the importance of not getting too busy for others or just having fun with your imagination.  She also collected some of her children’s songs and created the "Låt Det Låta/Let it Play" collection of fun songs in Swedish and English. All the books can be found on Amazon and other online sites.

Other publications that are not for sale but can be found in public archives include:

  • ”Traveling Ålands Byways” – A poem that represents Åland in the 2023 International Island Games, Guernsey. Listen when LaDena reads her poem in that book:
  • ”Åland, our Home” published in the book ”Island Voices,” published by the Orkney 2025 International Island Games.

Music

Music has always been a big part of LaDena’s life. From the little girl playing with her mother's auto harp to singing and composing songs for others to enjoy. Lyrics and melodies have always been a way for her to process and share her feelings and emotions. With her children’s songs she can show and share her joy for the simple things. By allowing herself to be a vessel for her God she is able to minister and make a spritual connection with others. She is able to tell stories that others want to listen to, and she is able to help others though collaboration, and make songs that can tell their stories.

Sheet music

LaDena Laine has been writing and publishing sheet music in two genres for over a decade. The list of Gospel songs for soloist, choirs, and fun songs for kids gets longer and longer with each new year. She has worked with wonderful arrangers who take her lyrics and melodies for Gospel choirs and make them fit for angelic choirs. The arrangers she has used are Max Kjell Frisk, Jan Hellberg, Fredrik Erlandsson, Kaj Sundblom and Steven Pitkänen. Per Harling and Owe Laine have also helped her to translate a few of her songs to Swedish. Below are two examples of what you will find online in sheet music shops like sheetmusicdirect.com
